Mark asks…
Where can I buy lighting fixtures cheap?
I’m interested in putting three mini-pendants by Hinkley (casa collection, #4017) in my dining room. Everywhere I look, they cost $110. I’ve located them for $94 each, but since I need three, I’d really like to find them for less. Does anyone know of a discount source for lighting? Thank you.
Okay, I checked Amazon and the lights are all $110 there, too. Any other suggestions?

Sonny answers:
I think $110 is standard price as checked with google found only 2 from below link

Mary asks…
How do you get clips which hold recessed lighting fixtures to snap down with 3/4 inch ceiling sheet rock?
This is a 6 inch cam with clips to hold the recessed lighting in place. The clips will not latch down and hold the cam on a 3/4 inch ceiling sheet rock. Does one bend them somehow to work or are there replacement clips to be found? What other options do I have as I have tried everything. Thanks

Sonny answers:
Check where you bought the fixtures.or make the sheet rock 1/2” where the clips go.carve it out.good luck.

Lisa asks…
The lighting fixtures in 3 rooms blew out within 2 days, what is the problem?
My landlord goes awol when these thing happen. I know that it’s probably a simple fix and just want to do it myself. Any suggestions? We’ve tried new light bulbs and flipping the breakers, neither worked.
In fact, this has happened in every room I have.. but I don’t know what the maintenance guy did to fix it.

Sonny answers:
Cheap bulbs? Or call the landlord. Do not do your own electric work.

Helen asks…
What lightbulbs and lighting fixtures commonly have a level of 50 LUX ?
I am trying to find out proper lighting to reduce light damage on pieces of artwork and posters that I own. One suggestion was to have a recommended lighting level of 50 lux.

Sonny answers:
That is a bit weak! My bicycle lamp can manage that. Its the safe minimum level.

Daniel asks…
Should the globes on the lighting fixtures in my bathroom be the same color as the sink, tub and toilet?
My sink, tub and toilet are going to be white, should the globes on the sconces and chandelier also be white?

Sonny answers:
Decorator to the rescue here! LOL Your globes can be whatever color you want them to be, just keep in mind a few other things before you decide.
If you are having having white or cream walls, and you want plain/ neutral globes, go with ones the same as the wall color. For example, cream globes on a white wall will look dirty, go with white. Or, if you have say a white and black granite counter, go with white. If you have an earth toned counter go with cream. Buy a globe of each color, put it on the fixture. Your eye will tell you which is the right choice.
HOWEVER, no need to be plain unless that is the look you like, as they come in a great array of colors- even a tortoise shell glass, so let your imagination play.
I’d suggest starting at Lowe’s. They have a wide array of globes placed on bulbs so that you can see what they look like when fixture is on. Do keep in mind that if it’s a main bath you use for makeup, etc, a lot of colored globes can distort true skin tones. Again, for example, if you have a 3 or 4 light fixture, buy 3 or 4 globes that you like, put them all on and decide which works with your decor/ taste, then return the ones that didn’t work or just exchange them for more of the one that did.
Sorry about some of these silly replies! EVERYTHING you put into your home matters and you are not the first person to ask the exact question.

Ruth asks…
Is there a way to connect your home lighting fixtures to your computer to control it via a program?
I want to be able to write a program that can control my lights from my computer…just as a simple project I thought of randomly.
